Art in Motion by Albert Cornejo

life sized_edited_edited.jpg

A love for welding and creating has evolved into a notable career in art. Self-taught by welding together metal scraps, now Albert’s works are celebrated world-wide. Each piece is inspired by a personal experience or fascinating tale. Many are life sized, including a life-sized horse carriage made of nail-sized metal wedges. Each creation is made of salvaged materials that have a story in their own that he skillfully brings to life. Albert’s art is truly sculpture in motion.

About

Mr. Albert Cornejo is a man of art. His passions of martial arts, hairstyling and sculpting have made him a legend among legends. “Every good barber has tall tales to tell. But in the case of Albert Cornejo, the winding and often grandiose stories are actually true. That’s because Cornejo not only cuts hair, he’s also a renowned sculptor and one of the most-awarded martial artists in the world today.”  As a tenth degree blackbelt in Kenpo karate, Albert has trained with the best. He began Kenpo as a young man in the 1960’s at a school owned by legendary founder Ed Parker, the man who brought Kenpo to the United States. Albert then began his own school and taught Kenpo in Los Angeles for approximately 50 years. Albert introduces himself as a barber. But he’s no average barber as he’s cut the hair of many celebrities including Stan Laurel, Red Buttons, Brian Keith, Lawrence Welk and many other famous people. When Mr. Parker came in for his haircut appointment, he brought Elvis Presley, and while there Elvis allowed Albert to cut one snip of his hair.  His studio is full of autographed photos with celebrities and many, many stories. A love for welding and creating has evolved into a notable career in art. Self-taught by playing with welding together metal scraps, now Albert’s works are celebrated world-wide. Each piece is inspired by a personal experience or fascinating tale. Many are life-sized, including a life-sized horse carriage made of nail-sized metal wedges.
